Weaving and other heritage skills.
I start with Natural fibers, which I have dyed or painted, if I feel inspired then I will weave or knit a project.
Most often weaving on my floor loom.
Every strand is carefully threaded into the loom one at a time.
Then I sit in front of my loom on a bench and wind a bobbin and shuttle full of my weft yarns,
then start lifting threads and pushing others down with a motion of the foot peddles, called treadles.
This allows me to insert the shuttle with the yarn bobbin into the open shed.
I run this one way and beat the strand into place with the beater bar.
Then change it up and go back the other way.
Every single thread is put into its place by hand.
No thread goes untouched by the artist.
I rarely plan the project in advance, often changing the weft as I go.
Using one of a kind hand-dyed yarns and then weaving in this "no plan", free way,
makes for a truly one of a kind garment in the end.
I love the freedom of artistic expression in this.
And this is why I do not offer custom orders at this time.
Because for me,
I feel it takes away the uniqueness and freedom of the artwork.
I imagine and dream while creating and put positive intention into all of my work.
I want whomever wears it to be surrounded with that warm, creative energy too!
Carefully washing and wearing these garments will keep them beautiful for years to come.
Always wash in cool water, and lay flat to air dry.
